A nice, easy to make crust that works perfectly in making a simple galette. Extra sugar adds to the flavor and the addition of an egg yolk assists in making the crust easy to roll out.
The crust for a galette is sweeter than pie crust and includes an egg yolk.
- 1 1/4 cups flour
- 3 tbsp sugar
- 1/8 tsp salt
- 8 tbsp cold butter
- 1 egg yolk
- Combine flour, sugar and salt in a medium size bowl.
- Cut in cold butter to pea size chunks.
- Mix in egg yolk.
- Add 3 to four tablespoons of cold water and stir into flour mixture
- Press dough in to a ball, wrap in plastic wrap and chill. You can use immediately by putting the wrapped dough in the freezer for 15 minutes. Otherwise chill for two hours or overnight in the refrigerator.
