Breakfast Pies

Breakfast Pies

Breakfast of Champions

So why not have pie for breakfast?  In the earlier part of the 20th century, pie was served to farmers in the Midwest at breakfast time. On days when threshing was scheduled, there was nothing like a good piece of pie to get the day rolling. Just think of it as a Danish on steroids.

What makes a pie a good breakfast pie? The definition is rather subjective, but I think that fruit pies, particularly apple, generally fit the bill nicely. The pies listed are just suggestions. You really can’t go wrong with apples, blueberries or cranberries.

Make your own list. Give it a try. Trust me, you won’t be disappointed.

You have eaten blueberries in your cereal for breakfast. So why not in a pie?

Boiled Cider Apple Pie
